Kuranda, Self-Drive, Scenic Rail up & Skyrail down: Spend 2.5 hours or 4.5 hours in Kuranda. In the morning drive your car the Skyrail Station at Smithfield, a 20 minute drive North of Cairns city. Park and meet the coach here at 9:10am. Park here for the day is no charge. A coach will transfer you from Skyrail Smithfield car park to Freshwater Connection Railway Station. Journey to Kuranda by Train then have free time in Kuranda. At a pre-booked time head to the Skyrail Kuranda Station and journey back down the mountain. Kuranda in a Day! This tour offers excellent value and a range of times and options depending on whether you would like to head up to Kuranda by Train or Skyrail or in reverse. Skyrail up, Train Down in summary: This tour is ideal for self-drivers who prefer to do the Skyrail in the morning followed by the Train in the afternoon. Self-drive to Skyrail on the Captain Cook Highway, Smithfield. Leave your car in the car park - free of charge. Or, for people who would like to save a little and take the train back to Cairns Central Station and walk back to their hotel in Cairns.
